How to Build Consistency When You’re Juggling Family and Business
There was a time when I thought consistency meant having everything perfectly planned out.
Like… color-coded calendars, full uninterrupted workdays, a quiet house (lol).
But between school runs, snack requests, emails, and coffee going cold for the third time… that version of consistency?
It just wasn’t happening.
And for a while, I thought that meant I wasn’t cut out for this.
What I’ve learned since?
Consistency isn’t about doing everything perfectly.
It’s about showing up for the things that matter- even in the middle of real life.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re trying to build something while life is happening all around you… you’re not alone.
And more importantly?
You’re not behind.
“For the longest time, I thought consistency meant doing everything, every day. But real life doesn’t work like that.”

1. Redefine What Consistency Actually Means
For the longest time, I thought consistency meant doing everything, every day.
Posting daily.
Checking every box.
Staying perfectly on track.
But real life doesn’t work like that.
Especially not when you’re balancing kids, a home, and trying to build something of your own.
Real consistency looks like:
→ showing up imperfectly
→ doing what you can with the time you have
→ choosing progress over perfection
Some days that’s a full work session.
Some days it’s 25 minutes.
Both count.
And honestly?
Those small, repeatable actions are what actually build momentum.
2. Create Simple, Repeatable Routines
You don’t need a complicated system.
You need something you can actually stick to.
This is where everything changed for me:
Instead of asking,
“When will I have time?”
I started asking,
“What can I do in the time I already have?”
That’s where the idea of two tomatoes 🍅🍅 comes in.
Two simple tasks each day:
🍅 one for consistency
🍅 one for growth
That’s it.
And you can do them in two focused 25-minute sessions.
No overwhelm.
No giant to-do list.
Just forward movement.
3. Use Systems That Support Real Life
When life is full, your brain can’t hold everything.
That’s where simple systems come in.
Not complicated funnels.
Not 17-step workflows.
Just support.
That might look like:
→ writing your goal down daily
→ knowing your 2 tomatoes before you start
→ having a dedicated time to focus
Because when you remove the decision-making…
you make it easier to actually follow through.
4. Stop Trying to Do It Alone
This is the part no one talks about enough.
Consistency is HARD when you’re doing it by yourself.
Because no one sees:
→ when you show up
→ when you don’t
→ when you’re stuck
And it’s really easy to stay in your head instead of taking action.
That’s why coworking is so powerful.
You’re not learning more.
You’re doing more.
You show up.
You say your goal.
You work.
And suddenly… things that have been sitting on your list for months?
Start getting done.
5. Give Yourself More Grace Than Pressure
There will be days where it doesn’t go perfectly.
The kids need you.
You’re tired.
Life happens.
That doesn’t mean you’ve failed.
It just means you’re human.
Consistency isn’t about never missing a day.
It’s about coming back the next one.
Without guilt.
Without overthinking.
Without starting over completely.
Just… continuing.
You don’t need more time.
You need:
→ simpler expectations
→ smaller actions
→ consistent follow-through
That’s how this works.
Not all at once.
But little by little.
If you’re ready to stop overthinking and actually start doing…
Come co-work with us inside Cultivating Awesome 🤍
It’s a space where you show up, focus, and finally move the things forward you’ve been “almost starting” for way too long.
You don’t need a full day.
You just need a place to begin.
